SEO For Photographers
We NEED to tell you about our latest web design! It’s been such an incredible process from start to finish. We’ve had the pleasure of working with the amazing Hailey Williams, of Archer Inspired Photography. We’re sad that the design process has come to an end, but at the same time we are so excited for her new website! Together, we have created an online home that is bold and fun for her.
From the moment we met Hailey and spoke with her about branding and her vision for the site, we knew it was going to be incredibly unique. We took what she had on her previous website and refined it with fun elements and layouts. She also wanted to emphasize to her audience that they wouldn’t be hiring just another vendor but instead, they would be hiring HER for the creativeness, uniqueness and vibes only she could deliver behind a camera.
So we created something that places you right smack in the middle of her mind. A wonderful place of color and whimsy. Since Hailey explained to us that she loves The Office, Friends, and Parks and Rec, we knew we had to incorporate sitcom’esque type of fun in a unique yet familiar way that expressed her love for the genre. Check out her custom contact forms to get a better idea of what we mean!
And what’s with the polaroids you may ask? Although Hailey is a digital photographer, she also provides her clients with some polaroid photos on their wedding day! Hailey quotes “We embrace the nostalgia inherent in our past”. We love that her clients can remember their wedding day with instant, tangible memory they’ll be able to see and hold right away. There’s no better feeling than that! Using her all time favorite colors, black, white with hints of cadmium yellow, olive green and deep blue, Hailey Williams provided us with a virtual sandbox to create and play.
We worked hard to bring Hailey’s website to life. Although her old website was a bit of fun, it didn’t seem to capture Hailey’s one of a kind, sitcom marathon, plant-loving self for all the world to appreciate. So we made it a point to showcase all of the amazingness that Hailey brings to the table, and displayed it in an immersive and fun way her audience is sure to enjoy.
It’s definitely a site unlike anything we’ve created thus far, but one that we are so in love with. The variety of life on Hailey’s website invites her audience to join in on the fun while they browse all the gorgeous content she has to offer. Some of our favorite features are the interchangeable polaroid photos and the fun contact forms featuring a Friends version and an Office version!
Mariposa Design Co: How did you get started with photography?
Hailey: “I feel like every photographer has that same cliche ‘I picked up a camera when I was twelve’. Everyone kinda has that similar thing and that’s kind of what it was for me, too. I started young and loved it. I was always the friend in the group who had the camera. They’d be like, ‘Oh Hailey will take the picture?’ kind of thing.”
MDC: Did you start off with a polaroid or a digital camera?
Hailey: I had a regular camera. It’s always been Canon. My dad worked for Canon for a while. I think I actually got my first DSLR when I was in seventh grade, but obviously just as an amateur, hobbyist kind of thing and I shot my first wedding 2014. And I’ve been full-time since 2016.
MDC: How was it taking the leap to go full-time?
Hailey: I was kind of forced into it. I went full time a month after having Archer (son). So, when Archer was one month old, we moved to the Bay area and so I was a new mom. I didn’t have a job. It was either I go to work and all of my paycheck goes toward childcare in the Bay area OR I just make photography work. And so I remember looking at our budget and I have to make XXX every month just to simply survive. Baseline survive. My first year in business I matched my husband’s income. It was definitely kind of like a sink-or-swim kind of mentality. It wasn’t like I just decided to quit my job. No. I had a brand new baby, moved to a part of a state where I knew no one and had to start from ground zero and just needed make it work.
MDC: What would you say to new photographers that are starting out? Or better yet, if you could go back in time, what advice would you have told yourself?
Hailey: I wish it didn’t take me as long as it did to find my voice. I think it’s so hard to see all of the other photographer’s because there’s so many mom-togs or iPhone photographers. It’s like everyone that picks up a camera all of a sudden is a photographer. Seeing all them and also seeing the big names, they all have a similar look, or you feel like you have to fit into a certain aesthetic or fit a certain website or whatever and I felt like I had to fit into that grain to be liked. Don’t try to be like somebody else. You can like their work but don’t try to be someone else. Be who you are. Maybe you like certain things like them but maybe put your own spin. You don’t have to emulate someone else to make yourself seen. People want you for you and your own art.
MDC: What lead you to do a new website?
Hailey: If you want the real answer, I was having a daily quarter life crisis, and just breaking down everything and super overwhelmed and looking at my list at all the sh*t I had to do, and then website was on one of them and not being fully excited about it. But you created a website for a friend of mine and I liked it! I reached out to you, we talked that night and now I have a website two weeks later. It’s a huge thing I can cross off my list now.
MDC: What made you choose us as your web designers?
Hailey: It was a decision I made in 45 minutes. I also think because of [my friend], I trust her so much, she does this full time too and I was able to see her website while you guys were working on it. Just watching the process of it and the evolution of it, I saw the process through her side and I obviously I trust her. She trusted you guys with her website so I knew I could. I also like supporting Bakersfield locals since I’m born and raised there, too. I think I just wanted to start new entirely.
We can’t wait to see how Archer Inspired Photography evolves through the seasons. Keep it up, Hailey….that’s what she said!
