If you know you have been wanting to build your email list in 2025, but don’t quite know where to begin, this blog post is for you!
Before we begin, below are some email marketing terms you may or may not have heard. This will help you when deciphering this blog post, so you can dive right into it more confidently.
Have you ever wondered why your inbox always seems to be flooded with marketing emails, especially around the holidays? Big corporations know something important: email marketing works! When you check your inbox during the holidays, chances are you’re bombarded with limited-time offers, exclusive discounts, and BOGO deals. These brands know how to use email marketing to drive sales; and you can, too! Without feeling too sales-y or spammy.
But, in 2025, we have to be more creative with our marketing efforts now more than ever! Consumers, especially the younger generation, are more aware than other generations. It’s not enough to just send a plain newsletter. They’re looking for engaging, aesthetically pleasing, and well-written content.
Let’s say your favorite social media platform were to disappear tomorrow! Where would you find or how would you reach out to your clients? (It’s unfortunate, but we saw this with the great TikTok ban back in January – and it still seems like things are up in the air.)
Remember, social media is rented space. You don’t own your followers, and algorithms can literally change overnight. The only way to truly own your audience and maintain direct access to them is to have your own dedicated place on the internet, and that is through your email list.
So now the real question is, what types of emails should you be sending out? This is totally up to your discretion, but in our experience, when you incorporate personal stories, they tend to get better open rates. You might also want to make sure your email sounds conversational and not sound too sales-y. Write the email as if you’re writing to a friend. Share a story. Share behind the scenes. Share client success stories. Offer exclusive tips to make your email even more valuable to your audience. This will help your audience stay engaged, and they will see you as someone that’s relatable. Someone that they can turn to when they have questions. This will also help establish yourself as the expert in your field.
So, if you’re ready to build your email list in 2025 and you want to appeal to the new generation of consumers, let’s take a look below and see what exactly needs to be done.
These are a few great newsletter providers you can look into! Flodesk, Kit (Formerly ConvertKit) and MailChimp. We personally use Flodesk and love the ease of use and beautiful templates you can choose from.
There are a ton of different ways to engage your audience. The best way to grow your email list is to offer a “freebie” or a lead magnet in exchange for their email address. Once you have their email address, you can use it to send periodic offerings, discounts, etc. Here are some lead magnet ideas you can try!
Think about how you want them to opt in. For example, Flodesk has so many pop-up form and inline design forms to choose from that you can easily customize with your text. You may also want to think about where exactly you want your opt-in form to be seen. Do you prefer a pop-up window, or do you prefer to have it living somewhere on the website? Consider embedding it in a high visibility spot like the homepage, blog posts, the footer, or even your contact page.
Once you have everything all set up, it’s now time to let your audience in on your freebie! Start promoting ads, add the link to your social media profiles like Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. You can even take it a step further, and run an ad on your Freebie to get people to sign up for your list.
The more people on your list, the better. Did you know that if you have an engaged subscriber list, on average about 1-5% of them will buy from you? That means if you have 1,000 subscribers, you’d get 10 buyers with a 1% conversion rate. If you had a 5% conversion rate, you’d get 50 buyers! And if you have a product that costs around $200, then that means you can make up to $10,000 with an engaged email list! Crazy right!?
Now that you know how exactly to build your email list in 2025, you’ve just opened up a world of possibilities! Have fun, experiment, and see what works, and make tweaks along the way. If you’re ready to dive more into email marketing, feel free to contact us if you need any help, we’d love to guide you!
